THIS PROJECT WAS FUNDED BY CLLL NORLAND
The stories of people's experiences arriving in Britain and in particular North Kensington during the 1950s, 60s and 70s.
This website contributes to an important record of people  from the Caribbean who were invited here to fill the gap in the workplace after the second world war. Despite their huge help they faced tremendous overt and covert racism from landlords, police, workplaces, hospitals, schools, the media, from everywhere. They eventually triumphed.
Those involved in the "From Home to Home" project describe in their own words their first impressions on Arriving, the Housing conditions, Landlords and "Back Home", the homes they left behind in the Caribbean.

There are also stories from local people who welcomed the new arrivals. You may find these stories resonate with your own. The website has been described as an important resource for future generations.

A project with HRP - Kensington Palaces and Open Age members. The brief was to make images via the iPad that
celebrated the coronation of Anne Boleyn to Henry V111.
Happy Moments - a project facilitated by Myrna Shoa with help from Donald Dede.
I am running another project at the Pepper Pot Centre - 2018 with Timuchin Dindjer, part of A World in a Suitcase.
Open Age funded projects at The Pepper Pot Centre, again with the theme of Happy Moments. Through the spoken word pictures, video, via the Ipad  the group created a spoken visual online record. We looked at special occasions and celebrations all part of happy moments.
