FROM HOME TO HOME THE PEPPER POT CENTRE June 2015. Tutors Maggie Tyler & Myrna Shoa THIS PROJECT WAS FUNDED BY CLLL NORLAND The stories of people's experiences arriving in Britain and in particular North Kensington during the 1950s, 60s and 70s. This website contributes to an important record of people from the Caribbean who were invited here to fill the gap in the workplace after the second world war. Despite their huge help they faced tremendous overt and covert racism from landlords, police, workplaces, hospitals, schools, the media, from everywhere. They eventually triumphed.

Those involved in the "From Home to Home" project describe in their own words their first impressions on Arriving, the Housing conditions, Landlords and "Back Home", the homes they left behind in the Caribbean.
There are also stories from local people who welcomed the new arrivals. You may find these stories resonate with your own. The website has been described as an important resource for future generations.
